the email via his phone they will need to put in the URL
manually. I
suggest using a URL shortener like Tinyurl.com

When
setting up the Airdoid as a device one of the fields asks for
the telephone number of the mobile phone. It can be
entered with or
without the leading 1, so 15555218135 or 5555218135
will both work. When the Airdroid App is created it
has a check that runs and verifies that the phone it
is on matches the phone number. If someone has
downloaded the app on another
phone they will get an error: |
This
is the error caused when the number provided earlier doesn't match what
is on
the phone. This is to keep the Airdroid limited to one phone, so if the
customer was planning on sharing it, they can't. This can
cause a problem
though, it relies the telephone to know what number it is using. You
can see
what number by having the customer go to the SETTINGS in Android menu, then ABOUT PHONE, then STATUS. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The
status page gives some information, the important bit here is "My phone
number". It should be listed as 15555218135 (G1) or 5555218135 (all
other Android phones). This is the number the app checks against,
although you don't have to worry about the leading 1, the number itself
is important. This can also lead to a problem, there is a know issue
with some android phones (right now it's just been on T-Mobile but it
could be any of them) where this "My phone number" field is blank. When
this happens Airdoid won't install because the check fails. The error
will say;
|
![]() |
Where
it will normally show the number of the phone, it will be blank in the
error
message. Unfortunately this is a problem with the telephone and can
only be
fixed by the cell provider. In the reported cases they just had to call
their
carrier up, explain that this was missing and they could fix it
remotely with
an Over The Air (OTA) update. This can also cause problems if A) the customer changes the number on the phone, or B) they swap SIM cards, which is a popular thing for people who travel internationally. Either of these will change the number of the phone and Airdroid will fail. It is important to note Airdroid checks this every time it runs, not just once. |

When the phone is
registered
properly there will be a GREEN. When the Airdroid is attempting to register the indicator will appear as YELLOW ![]() |
-> | If the register fails
the
indicator will turn RED![]() |
-> | If they get a red status
they can
pull down the top menu for more information If this happens trobleshoot as you would any other error. The most common causes are a registration conflict or 401 problems caused by a router. ![]() |
